I love making lists and taking notes to organize my thoughts and basically my life, haha, so I figured the best way to let everyone know about what’s going on with Amie Roberts Photography would be to write a blog post!

Kindergarten Graduation Sessions are available to book until the end of May. The studio is open for these on Monday and Wednesday, 9 am to 2 pm. Blue, purple, black and pink caps and gowns are provided for the session and Sunday best for wardrobe is recommended but optional.

High School Graduation Sessions are available to book until the end of June. As well as Mondays and Wednesdays, I will also be available for these in the evening during the week between 4 and 7 pm on select days only. I have caps and gowns for McTavish High School and working on securing caps and gowns from the other high schools. Grads can also wear their school clothing for photos and bring props to display their extracurricular activities.

Ah, the Black and White Sessions. I’ve been trying to get these off the ground for years, haha! I absolutely love them and I know you will too! The whole family can be photographed (mom, dad, kiddos) or they can just focus on your children. So get your mad, silly and serious faces ready and of course your best smile.

While the digital images are great to share on social media, I really encourage you to pick a space in your home to display these photos. We can work together to determine the best size and product type (canvas, frame, matted print, etc).

These sessions are only available until the end of June.

Cake Smashes have been such a hit over the years but to be honest, they haven’t been as popular lately. Some options that I thought about were giving them up all together or only offering them to past newborn clients, but I have decided to discontinue themes and only offer the Smash & Splash Sessions. I recommend booking 4-6 weeks before your little one’s first birthday and these sessions are only available until June.

Where did the Box Sessions go? The box is still in the studio and is more of a storage space right now, haha. I am planning to give it a fresh coat of paint and play around with my lighting and camera focal lengths.

And last but not least, newborn sessions. All 3 types of sessions are available to book but I will not be taking on any due dates beyond June. Please contact me directly to book!

So, do I have you wondering why all these sessions are only available until the end of May or June? Let’s rip off the band-aid…

I will be closing the studio on June 30th for the summer. This includes every type of session I offer including newborns but excludes real estate and RMS.

I’m looking forward to a busy few months while the studio is still open!

Here is the booking link to check my availability for the rest of March and April. You can secure your session by conveniently paying online. My May and June calendar will available soon!

Baby Boy Rowan – Newborn Session

Rowan was the sweetest little babe and I loved getting to meet his family.

His big brother and sister were so smitten over him.

He wasn’t quite asleep at the beginning of his session so it was fun to capture him making the funniest faces!

A beautiful, classic, timeless family portrait.

Mom and Dad chose the perfect 10 images for their gallery!

My photography is never about quantity, always quality.

Welcome to the world Rowan!

Baby Girl Charlotte – Newborn Session

Charlotte came to see me in March with her mom, dad and big brother Brody, who I photographed in 2019.

Check out her spunk in the top left photo. ;p

Her gallery is beautiful and her mom and dad ordered all of the images!

I feel absolutely honoured when I get to capture past clients’ growing families.

Family, parent and sibling images are always the most sentimental images in a gallery. Such precious memories that this family will always have and can look back on.

We posed big brother in this same basket. Do you think they look alike?

I love that her mom chose neutral colors for her session.

Her hair was amazing!

Welcome to the world Charlotte!

Baby Girl Ridley – Newborn Session

I can’t believe this is my first blog post since January 2021! I have made it my new year’s resolution to get more sessions posted. I love sharing completed galleries and sharing little tidbits from newborn sessions.

I couldn’t get enough of this sweet baby girl as she was the first girl I’ve had in the studio for a few months. While I always run to pink for girls, I absolutely love when parents give me full creative control over a session or request neutrals.

Parent and family images are always my favorite to capture. Sometimes I’ll ask them to pretend I’m not here and just have a moment with their baby. It really makes for those authentic, raw images! I’ve had parents cry (happy tears of course), sigh, smile, honestly every emotion.

As we were wrapping up this portion of the session, Mom requested a photo with Dad & Ridley nose to nose. I was super excited and knew that it had to be a backlit image. Converting it to black and white really makes it special.

Aren’t they the cutest family?!

Ridley slept so well for her session so I asked her mom and dad if we could keep going to get a few more poses. She was such an easy going baby and I just adored her.

Welcome to the world Ridley!

Kacey : First VBAC Home Birth

Midwifery was unavailable in Fort McMurray until February 2020 when Passages Midwifery opened and quickly became busy.

A patient of Passages Midwifery, Clarine, contacted me when her daughter was 8 days old for newborn photos.

Her and her family came over to the studio the next day and I got to meet and snuggle baby Kacey. She was a dream to photograph!

I love chatting with new moms about their pregnancy, labor and delivery during the session and I came to learn that Kacey was the first VBAC baby born at home here in Fort McMurray! Isn’t that amazing?! She is definitely a little celebrity here in YMM.

Oh The Places You’ll Go …

Kindergarten Graduates

These sessions hold a special place in my heart as I’ve been doing them ever since I’ve started my photography business.

The children are the perfect age to be photographed and are so cute!  I love chatting with them about their favourite things and it helps to make them more comfortable.

These sessions are still being offered throughout the month of June!

They are $175 which includes 2 digital images and a print package.  Caps and gowns are provided and are cleaned/sanitized after every session.

The backdrop is kept neutral to make these images classic and simple.

Here are the wonderful kiddos I’ve had the privilege of photographing so far!

Madelyn is so excited to head to Grade 1 in September! Isn’t she so sweet?!

Hanna came to see me when she “graduated” from Early Start and now look at her!

So beautiful!

Her little brother jumped in for a few photos too!

Honey, I Blew Up The Kids!

If you are a late night Pinterest surfer like myself, you have seen the trend of huge, black and white photos of children displayed in people’s homes.

I love using Pinterest as inspiration and a creativity boost to put my own spin on sessions, but you can’t go wrong with something so classic and timeless.

The Honey, I Blew Up the Kids sessions are designed for your walls and not your hard drive!

And they will be my first step in transitioning to ordering appointments.

Instead of online proofing galleries, we will get together again within 48-72 hours after your session to view your images. I will help you guys decide on what images to print, what size to print them and where to display them in your home.

Web-sized digitals will be included with your print purchase.

Any amount of siblings and even mom and dad can be added to the session for a booking fee of only $99!

Prints are purchased separately and start at $125.

Booking will open soon and a print product price list will be available to view.

I hope that the convenience of ordering prints with me will help you enjoy your images so much more by seeing them every day and get it crossed off your to do list!

Photographer’s note : You guys have no idea how hard it is to get true, black and white images and not just grey scale, haha!  I’ve done a lot of research and watched many tutorials on how to properly light my white backdrop and adjust things in Photoshop.

Inside the Box

When I first saw the In The Box collages on Pinterest, I thought to myself, what an amazing idea!  I was so intrigued on how to learn all about this type of photography.  I love learning new things and am always up for a challenge!

The photo session itself takes place in my home studio. The box itself is 4x4x2 feet.

I have had clients feel a little silly climbing into this giant box and having their photo taken but it doesn’t take long for them to warm up and have a laugh.

Every collage is pre-designed and customized for every client so that no two collages are the same.  These sessions give me an outlet to express my creativity while also capturing your family’s dynamic and individual personalities.

These sessions can be for just about any occasion – friends, family (immediate and extended), holidays, birthdays, just because, etc.

And best of all, these sessions are “Dad Approved”! Here is a review from Randy :

“The opportunity to have Amie capture the love my family shares was priceless. The experience during the box session was made enjoyable by Amie’s creativity and friendly personality. The final product is by far my favourite family picture. It truly captured my children’s innocence and the interests we each enjoy.”

Writing this blog post tonight, I honestly feel like I’ve known Tayla from Mamasaurus forever.  We met in March of 2018 at the Mommylicious market. She admired my work and we talked about all things baby and pregnancy.  Fast forward a few months later and we were photographing her family’s In The Box Session when I first introduced them.  And again in November, side by side at the Mommylicous market, she couldn’t hold the secret in any longer that she was expecting her third baby!  I was so excited for her and together, we started planning her pregnancy progression photos In The Box (check it out here) and her newborn session!

This lady is a local celebrity.  Seriously.  Commercials playing at the movie theatre, a radio ad, Facebook videos that have gone viral, two published children’s books and not to mention being certified as a Dona Birth Doula, sleep training consultant, lactation counsellor, Spinning Babies and Happiest Baby on the Block educator, craniosacral therapist and an AMAZING childbirth educator! Her prenatal classes sell out every other month she offers them.

I love that fact she empowers other women and helps them trust and believe in themselves when it comes to pregnancy, labor, delivery and post partum.

If or when I ever have a fourth baby, this mama guru will be on my speed dial.

Watch Me Grow

Ah, that newborn smell, the snuggles, the sleepless nights. You blink, and now your baby girl grunts through tummy time like every time before, when suddenly, she rolls over! It’s the very first time and you know instantly that a milestone is reached.

She is onto a new stage in life and in that moment, all the grunting tummy times flash through your mind because you know that is no longer the way things will be.

Weeks pass, and one day you notice she’s sitting up all on her own.  All of the moments she was still wobbly and would flop over flash through your mind. Another milestone in her little life has been reached! You quickly remember the last time this happened; however, now you can barely recollect that last mental slideshow.

How can it only have been several weeks ago and yet those mental images are starting to get blurry?

Thank goodness Amie is documenting every stage in your baby’s first year of life!

And shortly after your beautiful baby girl’s first birthday, you will receive a photo album with all of her photos to spark the memories of those milestones.

You did book a Watch Me Grow package right?
