Baby Girl Ridley – Newborn Session

I can’t believe this is my first blog post since January 2021! I have made it my new year’s resolution to get more sessions posted. I love sharing completed galleries and sharing little tidbits from newborn sessions.

I couldn’t get enough of this sweet baby girl as she was the first girl I’ve had in the studio for a few months. While I always run to pink for girls, I absolutely love when parents give me full creative control over a session or request neutrals.

Parent and family images are always my favorite to capture. Sometimes I’ll ask them to pretend I’m not here and just have a moment with their baby. It really makes for those authentic, raw images! I’ve had parents cry (happy tears of course), sigh, smile, honestly every emotion.

As we were wrapping up this portion of the session, Mom requested a photo with Dad & Ridley nose to nose. I was super excited and knew that it had to be a backlit image. Converting it to black and white really makes it special.

Aren’t they the cutest family?!

Ridley slept so well for her session so I asked her mom and dad if we could keep going to get a few more poses. She was such an easy going baby and I just adored her.

Welcome to the world Ridley!

Kacey : First VBAC Home Birth

Midwifery was unavailable in Fort McMurray until February 2020 when Passages Midwifery opened and quickly became busy.

A patient of Passages Midwifery, Clarine, contacted me when her daughter was 8 days old for newborn photos.

Her and her family came over to the studio the next day and I got to meet and snuggle baby Kacey. She was a dream to photograph!

I love chatting with new moms about their pregnancy, labor and delivery during the session and I came to learn that Kacey was the first VBAC baby born at home here in Fort McMurray! Isn’t that amazing?! She is definitely a little celebrity here in YMM.
